Trainee Service Technician – Islington, North London

We are looking for a dedicated Trainee Service Technician to join us at Whittington Hospital (in the borough of Islington) and help provide high-quality products to our customers.
Your Role:
As a Trainee Service Technician, you will be based at Whittington Hospital and will ensure an effective and timely delivery and maintenance service to customers within the hospital. After training, this will include the setup of products for patients, within agreed delivery times, repair and proactive maintenance of products and support at delivery stage to customers in various clinical environments.
Main responsibilities of the role:
– Deliver clean, ready-to-use, products around the hospital site
– Collect products after use and return to central location
– Disinfect, function check, repair and electrical safety test products – full training will be given
– Complete records of testing, delivery and collection within our computerised system
– Maintain available product stock and spare parts inventory
– Complete product modifications when required
– Provide product demonstrations and basic training to staff
– Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
The role requires 37.5 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday.
Experience Needed:
To join us as a Trainee Service Technician, you will need or be willing to develop the following :
Qualifications and experience requirements:
- Mechanical or electrical background desirable, but not essential as full training will be given
- Experience of working within a healthcare setting is desirable
- Full, valid UK driving licence is not essential, as this role is site based
- Knowledge of Medstrom and/or other medical device manufacturers’ products would be desirable, but not essential
Personal Requirements:
- A proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to communicate effectively
- Ability to work under own initiative, and follow procedures laid out by the business to achieve deadlines
- Basic knowledge of hygiene, health and safety rules
- Basic PC skills including email and MS Office
- DBS checked (or willingness to complete one)
This role will involve manual handling – lifting, carrying and loading products.
