Page Sections

The Solo Luxe bed has been uniquely designed to meet the needs of children, adults and adults with atypical anatomy.

Created in partnership with key opinion leaders and clinicians, the Luxe provides full compliance with both BS EN 60601-2-52:2010 and BS EN 50637:2017 to ensure suitability and safety with a wide range of patients.

In August 2023, a National Patient Safety Alert was issued by the MHRA, in response to continued reports of serious injuries due to bed rail entrapment and falls. At the time of the alert, there were no acute low-height beds available which met both the children’s and adult standards.

Medstrom’s unique position as a UK manufacturer allows for a swift reaction to emerging clinical challenges. The Solo Luxe has been developed as a result, and is the first UK bed with ultra-low capabilities compliant to both standards.

Two configurations of the Luxe — secure and acute — are available depending on specific patient and clinician needs.

Key Features

Full compliance with BS EN 60601-2-52:2010+A1:2015 and BS EN 50637:2017, providing an all-in-one solution for children, adults and adults with atypical anatomy.

The Luxe has been designed to maximise patient and caregiver safety. A wireless Bluetooth handset reduces ligature risk, and smooth, rounded edges on the bed frame help to minimise risk of harm.

An ultra-low minimum height of 21cm reduces risk of falls and ensures that the popliteal height can be met for even the smallest patients. Equally, a maximum height of 83cm provides safe working heights for the caregiver, minimising risk of injury.

The Luxe's 3-split side rails can be raised and lowered individually for enhanced patient protection and mobilisation. At the bed's lowest height, the side rails AutoLock to prevent access to the underneath of the bed.
