Our work with Medstrom over the last 14 months has been a large equipment project where we have replaced every standard bed frame across throughout the hospital, as well as all our of mattresses too. Throughout this process Medstrom has provided support and training across our Trust for all of our new equipment as well as managing our beds and mattresses maintenance. The Medstrom team has always shown professionalism, efficiency and care for our equipment, staff and patients. It is always a pleasure to work with them.

Right from the start, the planning and support we got from Medstrom gave us confidence in the implementation process. There was a lot of nervousness from the hospital about how much disruption and extra workload the changeover would cause but the professional and knowledgeable team helped make everyone feel more relaxed. Every single Medstrom employee, including the Head Office staff; Technicians; Sales Team; and clinical advisors, was a pleasure to work with. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. They all worked together to ensure the daily work of the hospital continued without interruption and patient care remained the priority. They listened to our needs and concerns and were flexible and adaptable throughout the process. Non-clinical Trust volunteers joined the implementation team and it was great to see them working together over the 8 days. Every ward and department gave positive feedback on how the implementation was conducted in their area, alongside sincere praise from the Trust's senior team, including the CEO, Chief Nurse and Director of Estates. All of whom commented on how efficient and professional the Medstrom team were. I would have no hesitation in assuring any healthcare organisation, who are anxious about changing their beds, that Medstrom is a fantastic company to work with.

The support we have received from Medstrom during the pandemic has been fantastic, especially during the latest phase of our Surge Centre roll out. I have been really impressed with recent implementation of over 540 new hospital beds, which has been handled smoothly and without any significant disruption to the Trust.

Alongside the service we receive from the Clinical Advisors and Service Technicians on a daily basis, it is an absolute pleasure to work with Medstrom.

 The addition of 547 brand new Medstrom Solo beds will not only benefit us in the short term, but the advantages that they provide for patients and staff will help to improve the standard of care we can provide in the long term.

I would like to say a huge thank you for the support Medstrom provided during the bed implementation at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Our Medstrom liaison has been truly amazing and a real pleasure to work with. The Medstrom personnel that were on site for the implementation were incredible. All of them were incredibly professional, personable and focused on ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.

The whole prevalence audit was very well organised, with wards issued with timings and offered training on how the data was to be collected to maximise efficiency. Medstrom communicated well with PAH about requirements beforehand and the staff working alongside PAH clinicians were very approachable, helpful, professional and organised. Even post prevalence, Medstrom continued with good communication regarding next steps of the process and timings. This has been a huge benefit to us and Trust, assisting with our ‘Heels Up’ campaign for Stop the Pressure Day to check if offloading and correct positioning is being adhered to. Plus, for additional PAH staff involved in audit it was an excellent learning experience, providing an understanding of how other wards/departments/specialties operate routinely.

We've got a really good rapport with all the Clinical Advisors, as well as all the lads that deliver. They are professional and will come and set up the machines we want for us. Because they're Sheffield based as well, they are very prompt in getting the devices in for us. They will move heaven and earth if we want something specialist - within 4 hours we can get something under a patient. Also, it's nice to have a friendly voice on the end of the phone [Medstrom's 24/7 customer support team] and they can bounce a call to a Clinical Advisor if needed. I'm getting used to them by name now which is nice, so it's almost that family package which really works really well for us.

We always receive a good service from Medstrom. Our clinical advisor has been fantastic at assisting with training all the staff on using the beds. The QR codes are particularly useful as well for weekend and night staff to use. As well as for quick on the spot guidance when we are actually with the patient.    

Selecting Medstrom was a unanimous decision. Not only do I have confidence in the equipment’s ability to enhance patient care, but I believe that clinician efficiency will also greatly improve because of access to a better class of hospital bed that can tailor support to the individual needs of patients.

Following a review of our bariatric needs, and service requirements for UHL, we have recently decided to change the way our bariatric equipment is procured, without compromising service or patient care. UHL have moved from a traditional ad-hoc rental arrangement with a well-known bariatric equipment provider to a fully-managed service agreement with Medstrom. Medstrom purchased our preferred products to add to existing Trust-owned products and for all products applied a service level agreement in line with the service delivered in our main total bed management contract. This service delivery has meant the right product for the right patient across all three sites, in an extremely timely manner. We negotiated a managed-service fixed cost with Medstrom that has reduced our ad-hoc rental spend by over 60%. In addition, we are benefiting from a guaranteed four-hour response time and the firm knowledge that our equipment will be maintained, managed and delivered fully decontaminated for each patient, helping to ensure a positive patient experience, preserve patient dignity and achieve our desired clinical outcomes.

I would like to put on record my sincere thanks and appreciation of all the hard work and professionalism you and your organisation have shown. In all my time working in the private sector and then public sector, I have rarely seen such dedication to my organisation’s needs and what could be done to ensure we got the best option possible. When spending so much of the public sector purse on items as essential to high quality care as beds and associated products are, I can honestly say that I know we all achieved the best possible value for money. I have always found Medstrom to be incredibly helpful and willing to help us. I have never had any problem with Medstrom in any way - whenever I have picked up the phone to speak to either a Clinical Advisor or Account Manager, or one of the people who works in the phone hub, I have always found them to be helpful and kind. So for me, in terms of the service that they provide us as a ward, I have no complaints whatsoever. If you ask for something and they can do it, they will generally do it. And if they can do it that day, they will do it that day. So, how can you complain about that?

It is my view that Medstrom have a company ethos where their staff are treated as their biggest asset. Having worked with Medstrom at all levels throughout the organisation, it is obvious that they have a real commitment to the customer through a well-supported team approach. At a time when Public-Private Partnership working has been widely criticised, Medstrom are the example of a private firm who are just as committed to the care of patients as our own staff in the NHS.

If a patient is in hospital on Dolphin Therapy, we work with the Medstrom clinical team to ensure the patient receives the most appropriate product in accordance with our mattress selection pathway. If Dolphin Therapy is indicated, we work closely with Medstrom to facilitate a smooth transition from hospital to home, so patients are discharged back to the community setting without delay.

The management of medical devices across 154 sites in Leicestershire and Rutland is challenging, but one that is made much easier by having a capable and reliable team around you. Medstrom have proven that we made the right choice during the tender process. The transparency, efficiency, flexibility and friendliness of the Medstrom team makes them truly invaluable. They free up my time and I can trust them to deliver on their promises and support me in making the best value, patient-centred decisions possible when it comes to optimising bed and mattress asset management. Medstrom really is an extension of LPT, and I’m very much looking forward to working with them over the coming months and years to achieve further successes.

I found Medstrom to be a very approachable and customer-focused company who were very professional and easy to work with during our procurement process for beds. The Trust decided on 100% low beds to help prevent avoidable harm in the Trust and to improve patient outcomes whilst in hospital. The bed offers many features that will benefit every patient in our care. The bed we chose will also help us to future-proof our beds as we continually care for a more vulnerable complex mix of clients.

Having tendered for the provision of bariatric equipment for the Trust in 2017, I am very pleased to say that our experience with Medstrom after two years has been excellent. Medstrom won because of the clinical evidence they were able to offer in relation to clinical efficacy on products, clinical support, education and training, and cost. No other supplier was able to offer this. Coupled with the company’s obvious clinical expertise and ethos, awarding the contract to them was a clear choice.
